Message 6: The finale in Edinburgh
One last hello from Scotland...
Our final day of travel with John in the big white bus took us back to Edinburgh. We made a quick stop at Loch Lomond, one of the biggest lakes in Scotland. Next destination, Sterling Castle. I really liked this one even though it was very similar to the castle in Edinburgh. I found the displays well done and informative. The day was bright and sunny but a bit cool so it was very enjoyable wandering in and out of the various buildings, imagining Kings and Queens sashaying around.
One final stop before the big city was in Falkirk to see the giant horse statues, the Kelpies. Fun to walk around on a beautiful day!
Our farewell dinner at a posh department store. It is a really beautiful room with gourmet food and an amazing view of the rooftops of Edinburgh. A very nice place to have our last conversations with new friends. This morning I ran into some tour members at breakfast but many either left early or slept in and were missed. Brian hung around the hotel lobby for a few hours for one final chat or set of directions.
The end of a tour is always bittersweet but it has been a great time with fun companions. I am now finalizing packing and will be taking the train to London in a few hours.
